#1 Exhale, #2 Under My Skin, #3 Forward Fold, #4 Three Fold
Through weaving, quilting and sculpture, I explore two fundamental questions: What is happening in my body? and How did I evolve to be this way? These questions come from personal experiences with pain and healing—moments when words felt inadequate. My work translates these sensations into textile forms, offering a tangible expression of what words cannot capture.
My process is hands-on and intuitive. I repeat movements, paying attention to how they feel in my body, then interpret those physical memories into fiber. I use quilting, weaving and soft sculpture to find the balance between structure and fluidity. Handwoven panels hold rhythm and tension; quilted surfaces feel both protective and soft, and sculptural forms map out the shifting landscapes of the body. In weaving, I experiment with structures like double weave and twill, letting patterns echo breath and movement. In collage quilting, I stitch together fragments that trace energy, weight and release.
Natural materials are central to my work, reinforcing the body’s connection to the environment. As evolution intertwines species and ecosystems, textiles link human history, labor and care. Wool insulates, cotton breathes, and woven fibers hold traces of movement and touch. By working with these materials, I explore the intimate relationship between the human body, textiles and the natural world, grounding my practice in both personal and collective histories.
